What You'll Need

Step-by-Step: How to Remove Gel Nail Strips
Step 1 — Soak Your Nails in Warm Water
Fill a small bowl with warm (not hot) water and soak your fingertips for 5 to 10 minutes. The warmth softens the adhesive layer between the strip and your nail, making removal clean and easy.
You can speed this up by adding a small squirt of dish soap to the water.
Step 2 — Lift the Edge with a Cuticle Stick
After soaking, use your wooden cuticle stick to gently lift the edge of the strip at the cuticle line. Don't force it. If it's not lifting easily, soak for another few minutes. A little cuticle oil under the edge helps it release even easier.
Work slowly from the edge toward the tip. The strip should come off in one clean piece without pulling on the natural nail.
Step 3 — Peel Off Gently
Once the edge is lifted, peel the strip off slowly toward the free edge. Think of it like peeling a sticker — deliberate and unhurried. If you feel resistance, go back to the warm water.
Step 4 — Moisturize
After removal, apply cuticle oil and let your nails breathe for a day if you want — though most people go straight to their next set. Your nails should look and feel completely normal.
What NOT to Do
- Don't pick or peel dry. Removing strips without soaking first is the main cause of nail damage. The top layer of your natural nail can come off with it.
- Don't use acetone. You don't need it, and it dries out your nail and surrounding skin.
- Don't file the surface. You shouldn't need to file anything to remove Ami Amour strips. If someone is telling you to file the top coat off first, that's a sign of a different product.
How Often Can You Wear Gel Nail Strips?
As often as you want. Because removal is gentle and our formula is 14-Free, there's no reason you can't do back-to-back sets. Most of our customers are on a constant rotation — one set comes off, another goes on.
